KYNETON AMATEUR SWIMMING CLUB INC.
The Club embraces the appropriate policies and guidelines of Swimming Australia Ltd and Swimming Victoria Ltd. that apply to governing code of conduct and protection for members against discrimination, harassment, abuse, victimization, and unsafe conduct. THE RULES LISTED BELOW ARE CURRENTLY UNDER REVIEW
EXTRACTS FROM THE CLUB BY-LAWS
(as adopted June 2005 with subsequent amendments)
1. The by-laws may be changed at a Committee meeting without notice.
2. Members shall at all times reflect a high standard of appropriate behaviour and shall give no cause for complaint by any member of the public or by any member of KASC or any other club.
3. Only registered swimmers are permitted to swim in allocated club time.
4. It is a requirement of the Macedon Ranges Shire Council that all members must hold a current season’s ticket for access to the Kyneton pool.
5. Summer training and lap swimming sessions are generally held week nights 6.00pm-7.00pm, and Sundays 10:00am-midday. Other arrangements may be made according to demand and supervision requirements being met.
6. The Club does not as a rule provide basic learn-to-swim sessions, therefore any child who is unable to swim three consecutive laps of the Kyneton pool must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or guardian at all times. These children are only permitted to swim in their designated pool area (the ‘T’ section of the Kyneton pool) for safety reasons.
7. All swimmers are to swim down the left side of the lane.
8. Advanced swimmers will have the opportunity to be coached in the squad. Designated lanes of the pool will be used solely for this purpose. Flipper work and diving may be a part of the squad session but are not permitted in other areas of the pool.
9. The Kyneton pool management has the right to leave half the pool open to the public during hot days.
10. All swimmers are encouraged to record an accurate and honest lap tally in the attendance book which will be situated at the front desk of the Kyneton pool. Any member has the right to check any swimmer’s attendance and laps at any time. Only full swimming laps will be recorded.
11. For competitions the swimmers are expected to wear their club uniform at swimming meets. Club T-shirt, club yellow cap, and black bathers are preferred.
12. Parents and guardians of all competitors must be prepared to assist with time-keeping at competition meets where their children are involved as competitors.
13. The Club Championships are open to all members registered with the Kyneton Amateur Swimming Club who have attended at least 20 training sessions, or, where less than 20 training sessions have occurred, have represented KASC in Swimming Victoria qualifying competitions that when added to the number of training sessions at total of at least 20 training sessions and competitions combined is achieved.
14. Events for the Club Championships are under 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and open, and ‘swimmers with disability’ (SWD). Age is determined at the 1st December at the start of the season. Championship awards are made to each age group on a gender basis, and other awards include Best Club Member, Most Improved, Most Persistent, and Highest Lap Total.
15. The Club’s committee at its discretion may appoint suitably skilled and experienced swimmers to the position of club captains and vice captains.
